The Mission & Peace Committee helps the congregation of Derry put its faith into action through leadership, resources, and service in the surrounding community and around the world. We are committed to promoting God’s justice and sharing God’s love by focusing on eight core mission values:

  • Women’s Equality, Justice, and Opportunity
  • Housing the Homeless
  • Community Outreach and Crisis Response
  • Resettling Refugees
  • Care for the Elderly
  • Education of Children
  • Feeding the Hungry
  • Healthcare Access and Needs

We partner with local and international mission partners to put our faith into action by caring for God’s children in these areas. Each month, we focus on one of these values or on one of the four denominational mission offerings. We invite representatives from mission partners to share about their work and provide opportunities for the congregation to give, lead, or serve with the partners and agencies we support. We also encourage members of the congregation to join us in finding ways to serve these partners in mission.

U.S. and World Missions Supported by the Presbyterian Church U.S.A.

Derry Church supports the mission work and missionaries of the Presbyterian Church U.S.A.  We partner with Carlisle Presbytery to support a mission co-worker in Honduras, and we participate in the denomination's four mission offerings each year. Learn more the mission offerings and the mission projects supported across the denomination by visiting the Presbyterian Mission Agency

When disasters strike around the world, we respond by working with Presbyterian Disaster Assistance.

Mission Week

In addition to ongoing mission activities, Derry Church members set aside a week in mid June to work locally and travel as far away as Nicaragua to put our faith into action by participating in a variety of mission projects for all ages and abilities.

The Oak Fund

Established in 2008, the Oak Fund helps fund mission, peace, and justice initiatives, education, and work by Derry Church and its members. Derry members and associates may apply for up to 50% of the unfunded cost of a mission initiative. The Oak Fund can be used to help fund a mission trip, training to do or lead justice work, or help start a new mission initiative. Download an Oak Fund Application.
