Missions
The Mission & Peace Committee helps the congregation of Derry put its faith into action through leadership, resources, and service in the community and around the world. We are committed to practicing God’s justice and sharing God’s love by focusing on eight core mission values:
FEED THE HUNGRY
- Downtown Daily Bread
- Central PA Food Bank
- Racetrack Ministry
- Gather the Spirit
- Meals on Wheels
EDUCATION OF CHILDREN
ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE
Women’s Issues:
Refugees:
- Church World Service Refugee Shelter
- Catholic Charities
Community Outreach:
Elder Care:
- Christian Churches United
- Derry Church’s Care ‘n Share
International Mission Partners:
We partner with local and international mission partners to put our faith into action by caring for God’s children in these areas. Each month, we focus on one of these values or on one of the four denominational mission offerings. You are welcome to join us in serving these partners in mission.

U.S. and World Missions Supported by the Presbyterian Church U.S.A.
Derry Church supports the mission work and missionaries of the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. We partner with Carlisle Presbytery to support a mission co-worker in Honduras, and we participate in the denomination’s four mission offerings each year. Learn more the mission offerings and the mission projects supported across the denomination by visiting the Presbyterian Mission Agency.
When disasters strike around the world, we respond by working with Presbyterian Disaster Assistance.
The Oak Fund
Established in 2008, the Oak Fund helps fund mission, peace, and justice initiatives, education, and work by Derry Church and its members. Derry members and associates may apply for up to 50% of the unfunded cost of a mission initiative. The Oak Fund can be used to help fund a mission trip, training to do or lead justice work, or help start a new mission initiative. Download an Oak Fund Application.
