MEET REV. NANCY JOINER REINERT, OUR RETREAT LEADER
Nancy moved to Hershey in 1971, after graduating from Grove City College, to begin ministry as Director of Christian Education at Derry Church. There she met Wayne Reinert and became Nancy Joiner Reinert a year later. In 1986 Pine Street Presbyterian Church offered her the position of Director of Christian Education. Serving with Fred Anderson, Deb McKinley, Rebecca Langer, Ralph Snyder, Anne Myers and Jim Thornton was a joy. Those colleagues played a great part in Nancy discerning a call to pastoral ministry.
In 1993, Nancy left Pine Street to enroll at Princeton Theological Seminary. She graduated in 1997 and was called to First Presbyterian Church in Caledonia, NY (near Rochester). Solo ministry in a village church was quite different from being in large churches, but she loved the people and the setting, drawing heavily on her Christian Education experience.
In 2016, Nancy added HR (Honorably Retired) to the end of her name, and she and Wayne returned “home” to Hershey, where their younger son Paul and his wife, Emily, live with their two children. Emily is the daughter of Derry members Gregg and Jane Robertson. The Reinert’s son David moved to California, where he met and married Natalie. They are raising two children.
