  • Time to Renew - and Save!

Presbyterians Today is our denomination’s award-winning monthly magazine. Each issue includes inspiring mission stories, stimulating theological articles and news about the people and churches across the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Copies of the magazine can be found in the atrium library and at the Information Center.

Join Derry’s group subscription rate, only $9.95 for six issues when we maintain ten or more subscribers. That’s a savings of half off the $19.95 cost for a one-year individual subscription. To add or renew a subscription, make checks payable to Derry Presbyterian Church for $9.95, notated “Presbyterians Today.” Return checks by July 1 by mail to the church or place in the manila envelope in Rev. Marie Buffaloe’s mailbox. Please DO NOT place payment in the offering plate.

  • Coin Return on June 16

Change4Children will be collected on June 16 following both worship services. Your coins support Alliance for Children Everywhere in Zambia, serving at-risk children since 1969.

Do you have foreign coins that you no longer need? Please bag them separately and they’ll be donated to UNICEF’s Change For Good by Derry member and American Airlines pilot Brian Montgomery.

Please make sure that your coin bag is free of paper clips, guitar picks, stray bits of metal, and anything that isn’t legal tender: these items clog the coin sorting machine. The next collection will be in September, so keep on gathering those coins.

  • Have You Received Suspicious Church Emails?

Every so often, we're contacted by concerned members who received emails that appear to be from the church staff (especially Pastors Stephen and Marie) asking for money, gift cards, or other unusual requests for help or assistance. This week Marie's account was spoofed, with many Elders receiving the false messages in their inboxes. We've taken steps to stop the problem, but it could happen again. Here's what you should know:

    1. The church staff will never email you to ask for gift cards, money, or special favors.
    2. Check the origin email address, even if you recognize the sender's name. You may need to click on the name for the full email address to be visible. This week false emails were sent from, not Marie's actual address. All church email comes from the domain.
    3. Please do let us know if you receive something suspicious so we can take action.
    4. Mark the false email as spam or move it to your junk email folder.
    5. If you're still not sure about an email you received, call the church office at 717-533-9667.

Mr. Hetrick succeeds Kathleen Pavelko, who retired on April 1.

Thanks to all who served so faithfully these past years: Kate Valenziano, ME Steelman, Sally McKinney, Karen Leader, Marion Alexander, Charlie Koch, Steve Yingst and Karen Carns.
