Derry Seniors Present "The Harmonizers"
In 2001 four men from the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home (now Londonderry Village) formed a quartet just for fun and were asked to sing for a luncheon. On the day of the performance, one of the men lost his voice and they were able to find a replacement. at the last minute. On the way home the quartet members decided it would be better to have a chorus so that one member wouldn’t be missed in case of illness.
From this beginning, the choral group known as The Harmonizers came into being. Over the next 20 years, as men came and went, the group grew to as many as 25 voices. At present 16 men gather to perform a wide range of music. Their preference is for the old hymns and the southern gospel sounds of Bill Gaither’s music. Their repertoire will have you singing along and tapping your toes to songs including "It Is Well With My Soul," "He Touched Me," "I'm Gettin' Ready to Leave this World," and "Jericho Road," among others.
Evelyn Werner provides accompaniment for the group directed by Donald Myers.
Free. Lunch follows in Fellowship Hall ($3/person).
