"Baroque Palace" Concert

Founded in 2017 by Dr. Sean McCarthy, Director of Music at Derry Church, the Hershey Baroque Chamber Ensemble will present some of the greatest hits of the Baroque period. Selections will include audience favorites including Vivaldi’s Springfrom The Four Seasons, Pachelbel’s Canon in D major, Handel’s Water Music, and Bach’s amazing Brandenburg Concerto No. 4.

The performers include:

  • Violinist Dr. Marcus Smolensky, Professor of Music at Bucknell and Susquehanna Universities
  • Violinist Mabel Tang, Professor of Music at York College of Pennsylvania, and member of the York Symphony Orchestra
  • Violist Dr. Christopher Para, Professor of Music at Bucknell University
  • Cellist Rachel Kauffman, Professor of Music at York College of Pennsylvania and Principal Cellist of the York Symphony Orchestra
  • Flutist Jocelyn Goranson, Professor of Music at Messiah College
  • Flutist Lyla Bowser, an award-winning senior music major at Messiah College who will also perform on bass
  • Yuko Naito-Gotay, one of New York City’s most sought-after violinists and a guest soloist for the Vivaldi and Bach concerti

Dr. Sean McCarthy, harpsichordist and director of the Hershey Baroque Chamber Ensemble, is a noted organist, conductor, and children’s choir specialist who has performed throughout the U.S. He is the Director of Music & Arts at Derry Church, a comprehensive program of choral and instrumental opportunities for all ages that includes a Children’s Musical Theatre program.
